Remarques & avis / Review — Cet album arrive au lendemain de la prise de la Mandchourie (Chine ; 1931) par l'Empire japonais, alors régime autoritaire, militariste et expansionniste, attaché à l'origine divine de son chef. C'est donc sans surprise qu'on trouvera, au début du livre, les tirages photographiques (chose peu courante) des portraits officiels des trois derniers empereurs : 明治天皇 (Meiji Tennou, l'empereur Meiji, 睦仁 Mutsuhito, 1852-1912), 大正天皇 (Taishou Tennou, l'empereur Taishô, 嘉仁 Yoshihito, 1879-1926) et 昭和天皇 (Shouwa Tennou, l'empereur Shôwa, 裕仁 Hirohito, 1901-1989). Suivent quelques mots de haut-gradés (parmi lesquels pages dépliantes) et les reproductions photographiques des emblèmes des 95 régiments impériaux avec, en regard, leurs déplacements, affectations, et faits d'arme, dans le détail. Fantastique et rare morceau d'histoire.
This album follows the invasion of Mandchuria (China; 1931) by the Japanese Empire, then an authoritarian and military regime, in favor of expansionism and attached to their leader's godly ascendance. It is thus without surprise that are found, at the beginning of the present book, the photographic prints (uncommon a thing) of the official portraits of the three last Emperors in date : 明治天皇 (Meiji Tennou, emperor Meiji, 睦仁 Mutsuhito, 1852-1912), 大正天皇 (Taishou Tennou, emperor Taishô, 嘉仁 Yoshihito, 1879-1926) and 昭和天皇 (Shouwa Tennou, emperor Shôwa, 裕仁 Hirohito, 1901-1989). Follow a few words by highly ranked officers (among which fold-outs) and the reproductions of the 95 imperial regiments' emblems with, on each opposite page and in details, their movements, assignations and their feats in battle. Scarce and fantastic bit of history.
