Graphic Arts and Design in Japan : From Lettreprint to Architecture

For a few decades, Japan has been a major driveforce in all fields of graphic arts and design — thanks to talented designers and agencies that have showed and proved their knowledge of both the basics and tradition, as well as boldness and innovation.

We'll take here Graphic Arts in a large sense — the organization, writing and filling of an originally void space (空間, kuukan), be it a page, a room, a building, a land or a body — and present Japanese books that deal with a wide range of subjects : letterprints, lay-out, advertisement, posters, tatoo, interior decoration, landscaping, architecture, &c.

Depuis quelques dizaines d'années, le Japon est un acteur majeur dans tous les domaines des arts graphiques et du design — grâce à de talentueux créateurs et agences qui font montre d'une connaissance des bases et traditions, ainsi que d'audace et d'innovation.

Les Arts Graphiques seront ici entendus au sens large — l'arrangement, l'écriture et l'emplissage d'un espace originellement vide (空間, kuukan), qu'il soit page, pièce, immeuble, terre ou corps — et l'on trouvera ici une sélection de livres au vaste spectre de sujets : typographie, mise en page, publicité, affiches, décoration intérieure, tatouage, paysagisme, architecture, &c.
