Remarques & avis / Review — This is one of those photobooks we long to come across. Every bit of it is a joy: excellent black and white photographs, excellent subjects, very fine printing and paper, comfortable size... Miyajima (which also goes by the name of Itsukushima) is located in the Seto Inland Sea (Setonaikai) in Hiroshima Prefecture (Kansai area). It is renowned for its rural tranquility, its maple trees, splendid in autumn, and the Itsukushima shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. TAKAYAMA and HARADA here present us with the Miyajima of the 1970s, through superb snap shots of the inhabitants' daily life — lots of portraits, pathways and impromptu places and things. A remarkable work. Rare.

Superbe ouvrage. Rare.
