Il y a quelque chose chez les illustrateurs japonais.

Cela ressort peut-être de leur tradition de la gravure, de leurs interdits et des manières qu'ils trouvèrent pour les dépasser, de cette nostalgie d'avant particulièrement sensible au Japon et à tous âges, de leurs fantasmes et fantômes, de la sensibilité marquée pour le changement des saisons, peut-être de tout cela à la fois et d'autres choses encore.

Toujours est-il que, même si depuis un lustre l'influence occidentale se fait sentir, l'illustration japonaise reste un monde à part. On trouvera ici une grande part de ce qui y a trait : illustrations, qu'elles soient dans le livre, en frontispice, ou en couverture.


There is something about Japanese illustrators.

It may have something to do with their tradition of etching, with their taboos and the ways they found to overcome them, with that nostalgia of past times, particularly sensible in Japan and at all ages, with their fantasies and phantasms, with their acute sensibility to the change of seasons, maybe all of the above and more.

That being said, and even if since about half a century years the influence of the West has grown, Japanese illustration remains a world on its own. Are found here most related materials : illustrations, be they in the book, as a frontispiece, or on covers.
