Remarques & avis / Review — Boy est une série qui débute en 1991 — expositions solo en 1992, 1995, 1997 et 1999 ; publications dans des magazines aussi célèbres que déjà-vu, Asahi Camera et Taiyo — pour se terminer par le présent livre, second ouvrage de Nakagawa après Horizon (1993, compilation). Il y a beaucoup de touchant dans la jeunesse et le visage de ces modèles et dans ces noirs et blancs plutôt sombres. Beaucoup de plans rapprochés, de forts contrastes, et une intensité. Nakagawa et la série Boy furent par ailleurs à l'honneur sur le stand de Picture Photo Space au salon ParisPhoto du Caroussel du Louvre en 1999. Quelques "girls" viennent toutefois se perdre parmi ces "boys" !
Boy began in 1991 — solo exhibitions in 1992, 1995, 1997 and 1999; publications in magazines as famous as déjà-vu #9 (1992), Asahi Camera and Taiyo — to conclude with the present photobook, the second for Nakagawa after Horizon (1993, compilation). Much is touched and moved at the sight of those young male models and of those quite somber blacks and whites.Lots of close-ups, sharp contrasts, and intensity. Nakagawa and the Boy photos were by the way at the frontline of Picture Photo Space's booth at the ParisPhoto salon of the Caroussel du Louvre (Paris) in 1999. Nevertheless, a few "girls" found their way into those "boys" !
