Asai Shimpei : A Japanese Book

ASAI Shimpei (Asai Shinpei, 淺井愼平, 1937-) est un photographe japonais renommé, connu en particulier pour avoir été le photographe attitré des Beatles lors de leur passage au Japon en 1966, à l'occasion du concert au Budokan de Tokyo (Beatles Tokyo).

Du fait d'une affinité certaine avec les voyages et l'eau sous toutes formes — de l'océan aux nuages —, la majeure partie de son œuvre consiste en photographies d'ASAI Shimpei globe-trotter invétéré, des grandes capitales (e.g. Winds, Shadow) aux littoraux et îles tropicales (e.g. Kairyu no Naka no Shimajima, Islands, Kaibe no Tobira).
La photographie animale et végétale lui réussit également (Hana, Neko-tachi yo !, Ginga-tetsudo : Dobutsuen-eki / Suizokukan-eki...), et la poésie, en collaboration (TAWARA Machi) ou production personnelle (20 Seiki Saishu Kiteki).

En 1991, il fonda le Kaigan Museum of Art à Chikura (préfecture de Chiba, Japon), et est toujours grand voyageur, actif particulièrement dans les domaines de la publicité et de la presse, et expose de part le monde.
Un talent certain pour le paysage, la nature morte et vivante, et un sens du détail absolument exceptionnel. Un favori personnel certain.

Shimpei ASAI (Shinpei Asai, 淺井愼平, 1937-) is a renowned Japanese photographer, known particularly for having been the official photographer of the Beatles during their trip in Japan for the 1966 Budokan concert in Tokyo (Beatles Tokyo).

Thanks to an affinity with travels and water in whatever form — from ocean to clouds —, the bulk of his works consists in photographs by Shimpei ASAI the inveterate globe-trotter, ranging from large cities (e.g. Winds, Shadow) to seashores and tropical islands (e.g. Kairyu no Naka no Shimajima, Islands, Kaibe no Tobira).
Animal and vegetable photography suits him well too (Hana, Neko-tachi yo !, Ginga-tetsudo : Dobutsuen-eki / Suizokukan-eki...), and poetry, through collaborations (TAWARA Machi) or personal works (20 Seiki Saishu Kiteki).

In 1991, he founded the Kaigan Museum of Art in Chikura (Chiba Prefecture, Japan) and he is still a great traveller, active particularly in the fields of magazines and advertisement, and holds exhibitions throughout the world.
A sure talent for landscape and still/moving-life, and an exceptional sense for details. A sure personal favorite.
