Remarques & avis / Review — Une très bonne édition, présentant les estampes japonaises que HIROSHIGE (ANDO Hiroshige, 1797-1858, dit) réalisa pour illustrer les 53 étapes du Tokaido — littéralement : la Route de la Mer de l'Est, entre Tokyo et Kyoto. L'intérêt est ici, outre une très bonne facture, d'avoir mis en regard l'ensemble des gravures des trois versions / éditions majeures de l'ouvrage (Hoeido, Gyosho, Reisho) : absolument fascinant.
A very good edition, well-done, of the Japanese woodblock etchings HIROSHIGE (ANDO Hiroshige, 1797-1858, aka) made of the 53 stages of the Tokaido — litteraly the Path of the Eastern Sea, from Tokyo to Kyoto. The most welcome point of the present book, besides being very well-made, is that all etchings are in the three major editions of the Tokaido (Hoeido, Gyosho, Reisho) : truly fascinating.
