Remarques & avis / Review — Itou Shinsui (1898-1972) fut l'un des peintres de nihonga (peinture traditionnelle japonaise) et graveur sur bois d'ukiyo-e (estampe japonaise) participant au mouvement shin hanga (Renouveau de / Nouvelle Gravure) les plus réputés du XXe siècle. Le présent livre fut réalisé à la suite de la première grande rétrospective posthume de ses œuvres. Excellent choix et impression, finition remarquables. Très beau livre d'art japonais.
Itou Shinsui (1898-1972) was one of the most renowned nihonga (traditional Japanese painting) painter and ukiyoe (Japanese etching) woodblock engravers of the 20th century, taking part in the movement of Shin Hanga (Renewal of / New Engraving). The present book was made on the occasion of the first large posthumous retrospective of his works. Excellent selection and remarkable printing and finishing touch. Beautiful Japanese artbook.
