
Masayuki MIYATA (1926-1997) is a renowned Japanese artist and illustrator, at first a woodblock printer, whose splendid "kirie" (cut papers), imbued with a dark, fantastic, sexual and ofter dramatic atmosphere with elements borrowed to a traditional Japan, were soon noticed, much praised, by TANIZAKI Junichiro among others, and had a phenomenal success.
MIYATA Masayuki (1926-1997) est un artiste et illustrateur japonais renommé, à l'origine graveur sur bois, dont les splendides "kiri-e" (papiers découpés), à l'atmosphère sexuelle, sombre, souvent dramatique, aux éléments empruntés au Japon traditionnel, furent rapidement remarqués, fort-loués, entre autres par TANIZAKI Junichiro, et connurent un succès phénoménal.
