Remarques & avis / Review — 'Kacho-Fugetsu' is the word that designates the four beauties of nature in Japan — flowers, birds, winds, moons —, distinguished in four seasons. Those Kacho-Fugetsu are here shown through works of art of the Japan of old — waka poems, calligraphy, scroll paintings, dyed goods, lacquered goods, bento lunchboxes, inkpots... and superb kimonos. Special feature of this issue, 12 mica prints of koetsu utaibon (No theater songbooks with cover design of kacho-fugetsu), reproduced in six colors on washi. The Deluxe edition of Taiyo Special Issue has little in common with the normal edition, save the profusion of illustrations: a large and imposing volume, beautifully crafted, excellent printing, paper and finishing touch: a splendid issue.
"Kacho-Fugetsu" est un mot qui désigne les quatre beautés de la nature japonaise — fleurs, oiseaux, vents, lunes —, elles-mêmes distinguées selon les quatre saisons. Ces Kacho-fugetsu sont ici montrées à travers les œuvres d'art du Japon ancien — poèmes waka, calligraphie, peintures en rouleaux, teintures, laques, boites à bento, encriers... et de superbes kimonos. Clou du numéro, 12 tirages mica de koetsu utaibon (recueils de chanson de théâtre nô portant couvertures au motif de kacho-fugestu), reproduits en six couleurs sur washi. L'édition de luxe du Taiyo Special n'a que peu de point de commun avec l'édition normale, si ce n'est la profusion des illustrations : grand format, et facture, impression et papier excellents, un fabuleux sens du détail : un splendide numéro.
