Remarques & avis / ReviewItchiku KUBOTA (1917-2003) is famous for his ichiku tsujigahana, a personal silk dyeing process he invented by researching a long-lost Japanese dyeing technique and reviving it by adapting it to modern materials. The present book — large size and excellent color photographs by Bishin JUMONJI — was published on the occasion of the exhibition of his two scores of fantastic tsujigahana-dyed kimonos, which appear to be all he managed to achieve in his life-time. A beautiful work of art, truly unique in its category.
