Remarques & avis / Review — Keisuke SERIZAWA (1895-1984) is a renowned Japanese textile designer, designated as a Living National Treasure for his stencil dyeing katazome technique, and active member of the Mingei movement founded by Yanagi SOETSU. Hito to Shigoto is an excellent retrospective, published on the occasion of one of the artist's exhibitions, where is found, finely reproduced in a pretty binding (special limited edition of the softcover version), the traditional folklore objects and motifs upon which Serizawa's fame was built : kimono, paper prints, wall scrolls, folding screens... A beautiful book, uncommon as such.
SERIZAWA Keisuke (1895-1984) est un créateur textile japonais renommé, classé patrimoine national pour sa technique de teinture au pochoir katazome, et membre actif du mouvement Mingei fondé par SOETSU Yanagi. Hito to Shigoto est une excellente rétrospective, publiée à l'occasion d'une exposition de l'artiste, où l'on trouvera, très bien reproduits dans une jolie reliure (édition spéciale limitée de la version en couv. souple), les objets traditionnels et motifs qui firent la renommée de Serizawa : kimonos, gravures sur papier, e-maki muraux, panneaux dépliants... Très beau livre, peu courant comme tel.
