Remarques & avis / Review — A complex and powerful work of photographs and essays by TOKIWA Toyoko, that reflect on women in the early 1950s. The series depict prostitutes in the streets (including US army men), patients and nurses in a hospital (during a vaccination campaign), new and traditional figures of Japanese and Western women (from pearl divers to wrestlers), and women in a mental institute.
