KANDA Akiko, sortie de la Compagnie de Dance de Martha GRAHAM, fut pendant plusieurs dizaines d'années la figure phare de la dance moderne au Japon ; HANEDA Sumiko lui consacra même un film documentaire, Akiko Kanda : Portrait of a Dancer (1985).
