Remarques & avis / Review — A fantastic guidebook and stroll throught the Tokyo of the early 1970s, her districts, neighbourhoods, avenues, pathways and crowd. Rich and colorful iconography, of drawn maps, illustrations, sketches, and numerous photographs of the city and of its inhabitants. First we pass through most of Tokyo's wards (Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Asakusa, Roppongi, Ginza...) ; famous writers (TANIKAWA Shuntaro, YASUOKA Shotaro, NOSAKA Akiyuki, TAKAMINE Hideko, IKENAMI Shotaro...) share their impressions and memories ; are then found the festivals (matsuri) of the locals (Edokko), a calendar of Tokyo's festive events, Tokyo in the 1920s (in contemporary postcards: the trolley car...), a section on Tokyo's craftmen (fan makers, wooden top makers, doll makers, calligraphers...), and a comparison with the Tokyo as seen through ukiyoe (Japanese prints). Fine portraits, and the great colors of those years! Quite uncommon.

Assez peu courant.
