Remarques & avis / ReviewTokyo Freedom is the sequel and complement of the vision of Tokyo Shunji OKURA constructed in his Orwellian Tokyo X. The title, it goes without saying, is ironic : "[...] all our systems — corporate, political, financial — are corrupt to the point of putrefaction. I'm just a simple photographer who works by feel and instinct ; but if not even someone like me can help being disgusted ans appalled, I think it only goes to show how very ugly the situation is. So I turned my lens again to the parched and stone-cold streets of the city" (Afterword). Far from being "free", Tokyo, as an archetype of a Western civilisation in its extreme development, appears as a conglomerate of contradiction and degeneration, here shown in a festival of b&w street snaps.
