Remarques & avis / ReviewHiroshi SUGIMOTO explores the meanders of the history of history — the phenomenon of the acquisition of his own skills and knowledge through the observation, study and shooting of artefacts from the paleolithic times to present he collected (Sugimoto is also a dealer of antiques and rare artworks). A superb, very well-crafted, large-sized volume, and a powerful source of inspiration. Signed copy.

"The samples collected here represent offshoot selves, or non, former selves assembled out of necessity in order to learn something or to absorb some nurturing sustenance toward further transforming my own art. From these samples I may now infer how the past relates to my works via an imaginary jouney to verify the site of innumerable actualities. [... These relics I've assembled present a history of what history has forgotten, of where stories ended between closed covers." (SUGIMOTO Hiroshi)
