Remarques & avis / Review — Here is one of our favorite series : the special issues of Taiyo (the Sun), a quarterly — fine and profuse iconography, good printing and paper, and always fascinating, varied and very "Japanese" topics.
This issue is dedicated to famous modern Japanese love stories, from the Meiji, Taisho and Showa eras, when the western idea of love was introduced in parts of Japan's society, love stories free for the first time from Confucius' teachings : adventurous love affairs, unrestrained ones among well-known artists, scandals of cinestars, double suicides of young couples... — love stories such as those of YOSANO Atsuko & Tekkan, MORGAN, ISHIKAWA Takuboku, TAKAMURA Kotaro, OKAMOTO Kanoko (OKAMOTO Taro's mother), SAITO Mokichi, DAIZAI Osamu, KAWAKAMI Sadayako, MISHANOKOJI Saneyatsu, ABE Sada..., with a profusion of explanations, pictures, letters, diaries, memoirs and newspaper articles. An excellent issue.
