Text by Yoshie YOSHIDA and Eikoh HOSOE, in Japanese. Printing limited to 900 numbered copies. Copy signed by Eikoh HOSOE (pencil, personal seal).
Broché, couv. semi-rigide liée au corps du livre par une cordelette, qui se peut ôter pour former un panneau japonais vertical (30 x 38 cm), photographies coul. et n&b. Texte par YOSHIDA Yoshie et HOSOE Eikoh, en japonais. Tirage limité à 900 ex. numérotés. Exemplaire signé par HOSOE Eikoh (crayon, sceau personnel).

Remarques & avis / Review — A beautiful, limited publication, made on the occasion of the exhibition of the screens and scrolls presented here, which bear shots from the two series "Junpon Ukiyoe Utsushi" (daring semi-nude photographic compositions of bodies and porno ukiyoe projections, 2002-2003) and 'Kamaitachi' (1965-1968, from the famous eponymous 1969 photobook with Tatsumi HIJIKATA), by Eikoh HOSOE. Signed copy.

Belle publication à tirage limité, réalisée à l'occasion de l'exposition des panneaux et rouleaux présentés ici, qui portent des clichés des deux séries "Junpon Ukiyoe Utsushi" (compositions photographiques osées de corps demi-nus et projections d'ukiyoe porno, 2002-2003) et "Kamaitachi" (1965-1968, du célèbre livre-photo éponyme avec HIJIKATA Tatsumi, en date de 1969), par HOSOE Eikô. Exemplaire signé.

Remarques & avis / Review — Yoshihiko UEDA (1957-) is one of Japan's foremost commercial photographer with a consistant and beautiful personal work. Quinault consists of a shooting of the undergrowth of a rain forest in Washington State — this great series, of eery deep damp blue-greens, was also the occasion of UEDA's first exhibition in Europe (UK). Amagatsu consists of superb portraits of the Butoh dancer Ushio AMAGATSU, his whole body painted cream-color with touches of red, with stunning facial expressions and female costumes over black background. An excellent and underrated volume of the regretted publisher Korinsha's collection "Visions of Japan".

UEDA Yoshihiko (1957-) est l'un des grands photographes commerciaux japonais, avec une belle et consistante œuvre personnelle. Quinault regroupe les photographies du sous-bois d'une forêt tropicale de l'Etat de Washington — cette impressionnante série de bleus-verts profonds, humides et étranges fut par ailleurs l'occasion de la première exposition d'UEDA en Europe (UK). Amagatsu rassemble les superbes portraits du danseur de butô AMAGATSU Ushio, le corps entièrement peint couleur crème et touches de rouge, avec d'étonnants expressions faciales et costumes féminins sur fond noir. Un excellent et sous-estimé volume de la collection "Visions of Japan" du regretté éditeur Korinsha.
